Our Mission
We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to turn their passions into profit. Our unique and accessible pop-up spaces around the city make this vision a reality. Join us at BanaGloo and discover the power of art as a means of financial empowerment.
1
Individuals from economically marginalized backgrounds walk in and get themselves a "pod", like a table at a restaurant, automatically reserved for up to an hour. They are also provided a menu.

2
Instead of ordering food, the menu is used to order "ingredients"— art supplies.
BanaGloo's basic toolkit is free of cost and includes materials ranging from paints and canvas to rocks, fabrics, beads and art paper. Materials are designed to stimulate creativity and empower individuals to hone talent (which BanaGloo insists everyone is born with!).

Like waiters in a restaurant, each BanaGloo is staffed with art assistants to help the makers in their creation process.
3
Completed handiwork is sold in the adjoining retail store, open to public as a contemporary gift-shop. Each maker earns money through the sale of their handiwork.

Makers
Shoppers

Shoppers enjoy an immersive gift shopping experience by walking through each BanaGloo's gift shop and perusing handiwork created by people within their community.

Made by hand, these pieces are a reflection of the physical touch, effort, and meaning put into creating handiwork that each maker can be proud of. BanaGloo products can be bought as gifts, souvenirs, or simply for the home.

BanaGloo challenges the norm of standardized gifts as each outlet sells items made within it. For example, a shopper at Andheri might visit a Santacruz BanaGloo because they hear it has a great crochet collection!
All items are available for purchase through the gift shop and our retail partners.
BanaGloo's creation process uses standardization to regulate product quality.
Art assistants, standardized options in the menu, and the ability to create using high-quality materials boost the quality and appeal of handiwork created by the makers.
Completed pieces are carefully curated at each BanaGloo's gift shop so that buyers enjoy an abundance and variety of products while shopping.

BanaGloo's Edge
-
Unified. All-in-one makerspace and marketplace
Maker spaces aren’t shop-formatted—their emphasis is on creating. BanaGloo brings creators and shoppers together and the world hasn't quite seen this before
-
Accessible. Open to public
While maker spaces are often restricted to members, BanaGloo is open to public, inviting people from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds on a walk-in basis
-
Non-standardized. Each BanaGloo is uniquely stocked and sells items made within it
We challenge the norm of standardized gifts as each outlet sells items made within it. For instance, a shopper at Andheri might visit a Santacruz BanaGloo because they hear it has a great crochet collection!
-
Shock-and-delight. Multiple domes around the city are never-before-seen
BanaGloo's physical presence leverages a shock-and-delight factor. In Mumbai’s concrete jungle of high rises and cluster settlements, BanaGloo’s domes stand apart
